Yes lifting suddenly would cause snap oversteer. I guess I was following what he said he did, rather than how he described the car's motion. I agree that it does kind of sound like the car may have kept spinning the initial direction, but his thought of eliminating engine braking makes me think he was in snap oversteer. But yes, as you say, we don't have all the info and our ability to give advice is limited.
